Bishop Guertin
High School, Nashua, New Hampshire, USA, twins with Rutenga High School, Rutenga, Zimbabwe.
Students have recently just begun to help students at
St. Francis in Malole.

The philosophy of
Bishop Guertin regarding twinning is expressed this way:
The challenge of
solidarity is that it is not just about raising funds,
or giving money, but about the challenge to really come
to know each other; to find ways for students to make
contact and understand a little bit more about what
their counterparts, students in another Brothers of the
Sacred Heart school elsewhere in the world, experience
as their life. It is a mutual activity.
For
a relatively small amount of money, $100 US per year, a
young person can be supported by the Brothers and lay
people who serve at Rutenga High School. With that
education, they have more hope for the future for them
and their families. And this is the hope that we seek to
nurture.
Hopefully through this
experience, we can come to know another people, in
another place, and recognize all that they have to offer
us, in their culture, their perspective on the world,
their understanding of nature, their great desire for
education... |
